VAN HELSING 2: THE DEMON'S RISING
"I can't believe you're making me do this!" Furie called from behind a tree. "How do you suggest we get that book?" Van Helsing replied. He was watching people flood into the massive structure as he filled his revolvers with golden bullets. Carl and Tom were sitting nearby working on some sort of device. "I suggested we wreck the place!" Furie tried. Shadow seemed to chirp with agreement on the branch she perched herself on. "What would that accomplish?" Millie asked. She had the difficult task of helping Furie. "What are we talking about?" came a voice. The men turned to see Antonio come into view. He wore a fine suit with a rose in his pocket. "Furie's just being her stubborn self." Carl said. "What are you making, Carl?" Van Helsing asked as he knelt down beside him. "Do you remember that invention I used when we rescued Anna?" "Yes. What of it?" "I'm making one for demons, and I should say it's done. I just need to test it." Carl said. With that, Carl stood up and left him. He barely got three feet away from him when he stopped in his tracks, his eyes wide. Van Helsing followed his gaze and he was struck speechless. "How do I look?" Furie asked shyly as she came out. This wasn't the rugged, rough-and-tumble archdemon they were used to at all. She wore a red dress with long sleeves to cover her markings. Her hair was arranged into a bun. Around her neck was a black choker instead of the chain she normally wore. Millie had also applied cosmetics to her face, for her cheeks were a soft red. "There! I'm wearing a dress! Happy?" Furie asked. Van Helsing smiled to himself. "It's all for a good cause!" he called. Antonio rolled his eyes and took Furie's hand, which had a white glove covering it. "You look amazing." he said. He removed the rose from his pocket and placed it in her hair. Furie blushed. Shadow seemed to laugh. "Oh, knock it off!" she said, clearly embarrassed. Antonio laughed softly, and made his way into the castle. If the outside was stunning, than the inside was even more incredible. Crystal chandeliers were hung on the ceiling, producing a large amount if light. Music was being played by many instruments, whose sound bounced all over the room. On two thrones sat Amelia and William, both elegantly dressed. "The book should be in one of the rooms over there." Antonio said, pointing down a hallway when they reached the top of the balcony. "If you try to go that way, Amelia and William will see you." Van Helsing then had an idea. He looked down from the balcony. It wasn't very high up. One could fall without having a major injury. Furie's not going to like this. he thought. "Furie, I need you to do something." "What is it?" "If you had to faint, would you do it?" "I could pretend to faint." "Good, pretend to faint." with that, Van Helsing pushed her off the ledge. She landed with a thud flat on her back. She was alright, but she did get angry. She opened one eye to see Van Helsing grab Carl and run down the hall. She was about to get up and go after them, but a large crowd had already circled around her. She heard Antonio's footsteps come closer to her and soon right next to her. He picked her up gently in her arms. I hate this plan! Furie thought. However, I don't really mind Antonio holding me... Meanwhile, Van Helsing and Carl were running down the hallway at top speed. "You should know Furie will be furious with you." Carl said. "Oh, now I know why she calls herself that." "She can let her fury out on me when we get out of here." Van Helsing replied. They didn't need to run long before they finally found the door they were looking for. The monster hunter opened the door to reveal a small room with no light in it whatsoever. He walked in slowly as Carl slipped in and shut the door behind him. For a moment all was silent and dark, until Van Helsing lit a match, giving the room a small amount of light. He kept walking forward until Carl let out a yelp. "What is it?" Van Helsing whirled to see a box at Carl's foot. He knelt down and handed Carl the match. In a moment, the box was open revealing a corpse. Carl screamed when he saw it. Van Helsing rolled his eyes as he reached inside. "What are you doing?" Carl asked. "Checking to see if our friend here can be of any service." Van Helsing replied. After completely emptying the box, they found what they were looking for. The book was black and torn. Dust had gathered in its pages, which were filled with scribbles and drawings. It was more like a journal than a guide. Van Helsing opened the first page to reveal that is was a journal. "Whoever was in here probably wrote this." Van Helsing guessed. He took the match from Carl and read the first page: May 14, 1887, I,king of Transylvania, write this in my own hand. In a matter of days, a ship will come for me. I'm on the hunt for a creature and his family, and his name is Dracula. He has tormented my family for more than 400 years. In order to destroy this threat, I'm leaving my only two remaining chances of victory, my only two children: Velkan and Anna. I know they will be just rulers, but can they survive without me? I will long to see their faces again, but if I'm to ensure they'll make it into heaven, I must leave them. After I destroy the vampire, I will turn my attention to a larger threat. For he is not the only creation of the devil meant to plague mankind. Amelia and William, his siblings, are just as dangerous as he. They are demons, which are monsters that have the appearance of humans, but can do far worse than a vampire, for they eat the hearts of the living. The only way to kill them is to make them suffer what they have done to so many, or feel the pain of fla
me touch their skin... Van Helsing stopped reading. He looked at the corpse. "May you rest in peace." he whispered softly. He stood up and turned to Carl. "Well who is it? Does it say?" Van Helsing placed a hand on his shoulder. "The Valerious family has served us again." he said. He opened the door and walked back to the balcony, where Millie, Tom, and Shadow were waiting. He peered down to see a large crowd circle Furie and Antonio, and he had to smile. If one didn't know Furie well, they thought she had actually fainted and was being cradled by her lover. However, she was feigning faint and not enjoying the fact that she was pushed over the ledge. Antonio looked up and saw Van Helsing and Carl. As he was about to leave, holding Furie in his arms, a shot was heard. Women screamed as they saw Amelia and William, both bracing a pistol. "There is one who isn't a demon among us!" Amelia screamed, walking toward the crowd. She pushed past everyone to see Furie being held by Antonio. She slowly moved toward them. "I wish to know her name." she said coldly to Antonio. "Her name?" "Yes. What is it?" she brought her pistol to his head. "Her name is...Gabrielle." he thought quickly. "I never knew we had a demon named Gabrielle in our ranks." William said as he joined his sister. "Why did she faint?" Amelia asked. "She fainted from...shock." Antonio tried. "You lie!" Amelia shouted fiercely, and prepared to fire. But before she could do the deed, she was on the ground with a bleeding cheek. She looked up to see the girl wide awake in the boy's arms. "The name is Furie." she answered. However, before she could do anything, everyone soon began shouting. "What if there are more humans around?" "What if they intend to kill us?" As the voices grew, so did everyone's ideas that everyone around them was a traitor. Seeing as they were evil creations, there was only one way to solve it. The fight started small, but soon the whole ballroom was in a massive struggle to survive! "Time to go!" Antonio said. But as he turned to leave, the battle had barricaded the door. "I have an idea!" Furie said. She grabbed Antonio and pulled him through the wild array of punches, kicks, and spells. They found cover behind the two thrones. "This is madness!" Antonio said. "This is how we decide traitors." Furie said. She began to lift up the skirts of her dress. Antonio's eyes grew wide. Furie's face was soon in a mischievous smile. Meanwhile, the others were holding their own on the balcony as the fight was making its way up the stairs. Van Helsing fired his revolvers whenever he could. Millie and Tom held their own by releasing orbs of dark energy onto their foes. However, in moments, their enemies would overrun them. As they braced themselves for the end, new gunfire could be heard. They all whirled to see two figures by the thrones. One was Antonio, who threw off his jacket, and Furie, who had almost completely demolished her dress. Her skirt had been ripped up to her thighs. The fine sleeves were now reduced to shreds. The choker around her neck had been ripped and thrown off, as well as her shoes. In her hands were two pistols with the gloves she once wore missing. "Furie's back." Carl said as he watched the two fire their way up the stairs. "Are we leaving or what?" Furie yelled. With that, everyone ran down the hall with hundreds of demons chasing them. "Wait!" Carl yelled. He pulled out his strange sphere and placed it down. "Quick!" he yelled and ran out of the way. Everyone followed his actions and watched the device go off, killing their pursuers. "Carl, you're a genius!" they all shouted. "And that was only a small amount. If I added more of it, I could bring down a mountain range!" he yelled. "Antonio, how do we get out of here?" Van Helsing asked. Before Antonio answered, he saw a window leading to the outside. Furie followed his gaze and nodded. "Where are we going?" the others asked. "Through the window!" Van Helsing and Furie shouted. They ran to the window and soon fell through it, the others following. Carl embraced the earth, feeling relief that they were safe from that demon's sanctuary. Millie helped Tom to his feet. Antonio turned to see Van Helsing grabbing his hat and putting it back on his head. "You shoved me over the balcony." Furie said to the monster hunter as she got up. "It got everyone distracted, didn't it?" "It hurt when I hit the ground!" "Yet for some reason you didn't look like you were in pain when you were in Antonio's arms." Van Helsing teased. "Well...um..." "Admit it!" "Alright! I did feel good with him." she said shyly. Van Helsing had to laugh. "We should leave." Furie said, and walked off.
