VAN HELSING 2: THE DEMON'S RISING

Furie stood below the massive fortress, its shadow looming over her. After running for a better half of a day, Furie felt weariness upon her, but she shoved it aside. She turned to her friends, who were panting furiously. She let out a soft sigh.

"When we get inside, I need you to free the prisoners." Antonio yelled.

Everyone's eyes went wide. "You can't kill those two on your own!"

"I can, and I must if we want to live. I won't risk losing my friends that haven't been imprisoned."

"We can-"

"No!" Furie yelled, anger getting the best of her for a moment. She walked over to him and grabbed his shoulders. "I'm asking you to do this...for me." she said. Antonio saw the strain in herself not to cry. He nodded slowly.

"Fine. Just make sure you don't come back dead." he whispered.

Furie opened the door and ran inside. She ran to the room where she would confront her worst enemies. Amelia, William, and herself.

Meanwhile, the others soon found their way into the dungeons. People turned to see them enter. Antonio turned to the others, who nodded. They all pulled out a small pistol and fired at the locks, which broke as soon as the bullets hit. Carl and Shadow jumped when Antonio ran to them.

"Are you two alright?"

"We're fine. They took Van Helsing. Where's Furie?"

"She's going alone." he said. Shadow chirped wildly at the cell across the hall. Antonio turned to see a girl around his age. She had curly, auburn locks that fell to her back. Her light brown eyes seemed to dim.

"Who are you?" her words were short gasps."A boy who's trying to help you get out of here." Antonio answered. He picked up the girl and carried her out of her cell when a boy ran up to them.

"Lilly! Thank goodness you're alive!" he cried with joy. He took the girl from Antonio and hugged her.

"Johnathan!" the girl whispered. The boy known as Johnathan soon followed the other prisoners out, leaving Antonio.

He felt alone. That was his Lilly, or it used to be. She'd completely forgotten him. He felt a wave of sadness come over him. He pushed it aside. If Lilly was happy, then he should be too. However, he loved Lilly for so long, who could replace her? His mind lingered to the one person who was his age, the only person who ever understood him.

"I must be out of my mind." he said aloud. He ran to the others.

"I'm going to find Furie!"

"She's not going to be happy to find out you've been following her." Tom said.

"I don't care!" Antonio yelled. With that, he turned about and ran off in pursuit of Furie.

As this was happening, Van Helsing found himself being chained to two incredibly large stones. The chains clinked when put on. He struggled against them, but it was no use. They would not give. He let out a small sigh, knowing that this was to be his last few moments.

Furie didn't know what was happening, but she knew where to go and that was good enough for anybody. She soon found the door she was looking for and opened it. She stepped out, but soon caught herself.

The door opened to nowhere. One mistake and one would fall to their deaths in the freezing moat below. The actual room was on the other side of the moat. Perfect for a demon who could fly. She sank to her knees, letting small flames come from her hands.

"Furie?" came a voice. The archdemon whirled to see Antonio standing behind her.

"I told you to save-"

"I know! But I couldn't just let you kill yourself."

"I don't care if I die. If I die, the better." Furie said as she got up.

"No, it wouldn't be better. You'd be leaving all your friends behind." Antonio reasoned. "I know that you think it's bad to let yourself live, but you need to promise me that you won't die on me."

"Why do you care? To you, I'm probably just an archdemon who whines and complains to you."

"No, you're not." Antonio hugged her tightly for a moment. "By the way, try using firepower." he said, pointing to the gap. He smiled and ran back to the dungeons.

Van Helsing watched as Amelia and William spoke to each other softly. Amelia was holding an incredibly large knife that could be considered more of a sword. William held a large coffin, which no doubt held Dracula's skeleton. Amelia walked straight to her victim.

"You should know, after we bring our brother back, the hunting of your pathetic band will begin. We have the upper hand with all three of us. They would stand no chance." she laughed as Van Helsing struggled to break free.

"In that knowledge, may you die in pain." William said as he opened the coffin, revealing Dracula. Amelia raised the dagger high. Van Helsing shut his eyes tight.

BOOM! The end never came as Van Helsing opened his eyes to see a large flame fly through the window, bringing Amelia and William to the ground. The flame soon diminished to reveal a werewolf as big as him. The monster came to him, teeth showing. Van Helsing watched as the werewolf bite off his chains instead of biting him.

"Who are you?" he asked. Not a moon was to be seen on this dark night. The werewolf's face came closer to him. Just as he thought this was to be his end, the werewolf let out a small giggle.

"Furie?"

The werewolf changed into the familiar archdemon, her fur becoming her black cloak.

"Who'd you think it was?" she said. She helped him to his feet. "Come on, I need to get you out of here." she said.

"That won't be easy." came a voice. The two turned to see Amelia and William get up.

"Why do you try to save him?" William asked. "He is the archangel. You are an archdemon! Why do you try to save him when you know it is no use? You're still an archdemon."

"I do this for him! He and I know one another! I can't let this memory fade."

"You will soon!" Amelia said. She swung her dagger at them. They dodged with ease.

Furie let go of Van Helsing and handed him his revolvers. She withdrew he dual-blades.

"You are fools to even try to stand up against us." William said.

"Worth a shot." Van Helsing said. He fired a revolver, which landed right inside William, who went down. Just as he hit the ground, he got back up again, holding the bullet in his hand, which was smeared in blood.

"Not the smartest move I've seen." William said.

Amelia then ran toward Furie, who punched her as she ran. Amelia soon got up and brought her in a death-grapple, determined to break her neck. William tackled Van Helsing, bringing him down to the floor.

Furie lit fire in her palms, burning Amelia. She let out a scream in pain. Furie rolled from under her and kicked. Van Helsing rolled, bringing William to the ground.

"I've had enough!" William said. He threw the large knife that had fallen to the ground to Amelia.

"Furie, look out!" Van Helsing called. Furie turned to him, giving Amelia the time to strike. The next thing to be heard was Furie's yell in pain. The dagger had been plunged deep into her shoulder, causing a large amount of blood to pour out of the wound. Amelia rose to her feet, brining the dagger which held Furie with her.

"You're strong." Amelia said. Furie spat in her eye. "But you're also lacking discipline." she said. She flung Furie out the window to her death.

"No!" Van Helsing yelled as he watched her.

Furie felt the air whip against her as she fell for what seemed a thousand years. She watched the sky vanish in front of her. The sound of water came about her as she fell in the moat. The world was black, but silent. Furie felt her senses leave her. In one last, desperate act to survive, Furie kicked wildly to the surface, but her legs gave from under her and she was done.

"Don't you know what have done?" Van Helsing yelled.

"We rid the world of a nuisance."

"You've given the world a nuisance!" Van Helsing cried.

The two demons didn't listen. They only just brought him down again. No matter how hard he struggled, the two had a good grip and wouldn't budge. Amelia brought the dagger down with astonishing speed.

Van Helsing soon watched the world spin as the dagger was pulled from him. It wasn't in his heart, just below it, but it was still a killing blow. His thoughts lingered to the people downstairs, who were still in a rush to escape. He thought of his friends who were bound to die. His mind soon came upon Anna, and a small comfort was brought with it. He would be with Anna, the one he loved.

As soon as the world was black, it began to focus again. The blackness of death seemed to dash off.

"How?" William asked.

"By me!" came a voice. They all turned to see Furie standing upon the window.

But it wasn't Furie. Her once tan skin had become pale as a ghost. Her brown hair had become long and raven-colored. Her clear blue eyes were now a dark-red. The black-cloak had become a long, black dress that with no sleeves. The only thing remaining of Furie was her chain that read "Gabriel". About her hand was a strange violet glow, no doubt her attempt to keep him Van Helsing alive.

"Furie..." he whispered.

She paid no heed. She plunged herself towards Amelia, who caught her but was brought down.

"Don't even try..." Furie said evilly. She plunged her nails into Amelia's skin and turned to Van Helsing.

"You need to kill William!"

"How? I don't eat hearts!"

"Light him on fire!" Furie used one hand to pin down Amelia, and the other to light the only wooden object on fire: Dracula's coffin.

"No!" cried Amelia and William. Van Helsing got up and ran to a small piece of wood that wasn't burning on the coffin. He broke it off and watched the tip burn, then turned to William.

"You'll regret this!" William cried.

"I doubt that." Van Helsing replied grimly. He brought down the torch. Amelia turned to watch her brother burn.

"No!" she cried. She grabbed Furie by the throat, but it did no use. Furie felt nothing, only the urge to kill her foe. Then an idea struck Amelia.

I created her, I can control her she thought.

"Child!" she yelled. Furie stopped moving. "He has killed your master!Kill him!"

Furie felt her mind try to obey her. She fought hard, but her attempts were failing. She found herself crawling toward Van Helsing.

"Furie, you don't want to do this!" Van Helsing cried.

"I...can't..." Furie tried. The darker side of her was winning.

"Do it! Do it NOW!" Amelia cried.

"Stop...." Furie whispered hoarsely.

"Didn't you hear me?"

"Stop it..." a bit more force now.

"Kill-"

"STOP!" Furie screamed. She unleashed a wave of fire in both directions. Van Helsing dodged the wave, but Amelia suffered burns all over her skin. She ran to Furie and grabbed her. Furie grappled with her and soon had an idea. She back up towards the window.

"You should be upset that she's doing this." Amelia said to Van Helsing.

"Why? For all I know, she's doing the world a favor."

"Yes, but to one who knew her ever since she was born, she's corrupting herself."

"I didn't know Furie until a few days ago!"

"Really. If you remember your conversation with Collin, he had two siblings. One by blood, and one adopted. You know that Furie is the one by blood, known as Victoria. But what about the adoptive child?"

"What does this have to do with me?"

"The last name of this family...is Van Helsing."

Van Helsing's eyes went wide. No wonder he recognized that chain, it was his.

"I'll have you know that you'll soon you'll be joining your sister."

"NO!" Furie cried. She pulled Amelia out the window. Van Helsing ran to the window and watched the two fall.

"I WON'T EVER LET YOU TAKE GABRIEL'S HEART!" Furie yelled as they fell. She opened her mouth and did the deed. Van Helsing turned away so he wouldn't see the act being done. He turned when the sound of a splash was heard.

"Furie!" he called. No reponse. "FURIE!"

He couldn't believe he was doing this. He felt the air rush past him as he fell. The water soon caught up with him and he was brought under.

It was at that point when the world soon became darker than it already was. Van Helsing soon saw the wound was opening up again. Furie must be getting weaker. he thought. His searching was interrupted from seeing the dead Amelia drifting to the bottom of the moat. Her face was paralyzed in fear and pain. He looked at the sight of a large hole where her heart should be.

His thoughts were interrupted from feeling the softness of Furie's hand gripping his. He turned to see the old Furie, her eyes fixed upon him as she helped him to the surface. Once upon the surface, she soon found a small shore near the cliff. She paddled over and placed Van Helsing in a sitting up position with his back against the cliff.

"Furie, are you alright?" he asked, his voice fading. Furie gripped his hand tightly.

"I'm okay." she said, tears in her eyes. "You're not."

"Don't worry about me. You should worry about yourself from your shoulder." he said. Furie reached over and saw the blood upon her shoulder. Her eyes went wide when she saw her hand.

Not a single marking was on it. Not from the demons, or any other curse.

"Gabriel...I'm free." she said. She then realized the one downfall.

She snatched Gabriel's shoulders. "Don't die on me! I can't lose you! Not after I'll I've been through!" she cried. She let out a sob when he made no response.

Her greatest friend, her brother, Gabriel Van Helsing, was gone. She bowed her head and cried softly. She turned to see Shadow, free again, land beside Gabriel and transform into Anna. She began to cry too, more than Furie. "He must've known what he was doing." Furie said, trying to comfort them both.

"We can't bring him back." Anna whispered through sobs. Furie turned to the black moat.

"But I know soemthing that can!" she said hopefully. Before entering, she made a sign of a cross over her chest and looked up into the heavens.

"Please forgive me, but this is for them both." she said. She took a deep breath and plunged into darkness...
