VAN HELSING 3: SOUL HUNTERS
(Disclaimers on pages 1-6) Chapter 8: Gabriel and Victoria's dreamland Gabriel felt himself fall for what appeared to be a thousand years. There was nothing to hear except his yelling, and nothing to see except the darkness. When he finally stopped, he landed on what felt like rock. He was about to get up when a new cry came from where he came. "W-o-a-ah!" was the sound Victoria made as she fell into view. She looked up to see Gabriel, barely holding back a smile. "What?" she asked as she brushed herself off. "You should look at what you're wearing." "So should you." Victoria returned. The two looked down at themselves to stare at their attire. Gabriel had on a plain white shirt with ruffles at the wrist. He also had on black pants. Victoria looked the least like her. She wore a white dress that went to her knees. On her head was a black headband, which matched her black flats. She also had on a set of white stockings. "Now I know I'm dreaming." she said. "Well, I suppose we better play along with this. Merlin said we'd be dreaming some odd things." "He also said that what we saw was true." Victoria added. "Wait, why are those walls moving?" Gabriel turned to see that the walls were indeed, moving. They soon parted, revealing a large landscape. There was a dirt path that led through what appeared to be a garden. The sky was filled with storm clouds, but it was incredibly sunny. There seemed to be no sign of life anywhere. Victoria went first, Gabriel following. It was when they took somewhere around their fiftieth step when something finally happened. A screech came from the sky. The siblings looked up to see a vampire come straight toward the earth. "Watch out!" Gabriel cried. He grabbed Victoria's arm and pulled her towards the dirt path. The vampire went flying right over their heads. "Alright, that was weird." Victoria said. They were soon surprised again by a vision around them. From the path, they were placed into a room with a roaring fire. A woman was on a bed, screaming her heart out. Two women were standing over her. Gabriel and Victoria knew instantly what was happening, and they both turned away. They turned back to the scene in front of them when a wail came from nowhere. "You have a son!" came the voice of one of the nurses. "What shall you call it?" The new mother panted, regaining her breath. "Gabriel." she said. "His name is Gabriel." Gabriel and Victoria soon found time fast forwarding to a new time. This time, the room was filled with the sound of thunder and lightning. It was so loud so that no one could here anything until a nurse yelled at the sight of another newborn. A man came running into the room. He was followed by a nine year old boy. "What is it?" "One with no sound within her." the mother said. "Let me see her." the man said. The baby was placed in his arms. He whispered soft words in its ear in Latin. A few moments later, a cry came. "She'll live. She is victorious in this fight." "Then that is what we shall call her. Victoria. Victoria Demeter Van Helsing!" the mother said. "Mom?" the real Victoria's eyes widened. The vision finally ended, placing the two back on the dirt path. "But, Mom said that we weren't related by blood! She that she found you!" "Why would she lie to us like that?" Gabriel wondered aloud. "This is one weird dream." The world was soon flung forward to an old house. The two immediately recognized it as Millie and Tom's safe house. They soon saw soul hunters walk towards one of the rooms. The two followed them to see that the bodies of Collin and their father on two couches. They both had black eyes, showing that their souls were gone. The hunters also held instead of weapons that steal souls, actual revolvers. Gabriel shielded Victoria from the sight and looked away as well. "NO!" Victoria cried, but gunfire was soon heard. She soon watched the world around her change into a hill, and upon it was their mother. She was laying face-down on the ground. Victoria feared the worst and dashed to her side. She flipped her mother over, only to see that she had shared the fate of the rest of her family. Gabriel bowed his head in silence while Victoria kept shouting pleas to her mother to wake. It was at that point when the world fell from under them. The two siblings awoke from their dream abruptly. Victoria looked up at Gabriel. "Were you dreaming what I think you were dreaming?" Gabriel nodded. "And you know what that means." Victoria then slipped from the couch. Gabriel got up and ran to her side. A close look at her eyes revealed that she was crying. She leaned into her brother, letting her tears flow. Gabriel did his best to comfort her, but the best he could do was to hold her tightly and try not to cry himself. "Gabriel, do you know what this means?" "What?" "It means we're the last Van Helsing's left." Victoria said. "There's no one left out there. It's only us." Gabriel gripped her tighter. He tried to make the thought of what his sister say vanish, but it was to no avail. Victoria was right. They were alone now. (This is probably my shortest chapter on here, but anyway, what do you think? Please review!)
