NOT AN ANIMAL
(Do I wish I own X-men? Yes. Do I actually own it? No.) Chapter one: A rainy day Logan's eyes stared out of his window. The sight never changed in any way. Probably never will. he thought to himself. It had now become his hobby to stare outside for hours, looking at the school's "cemetery". Inside it were three stones, which he each looked at in turn. The first one was Scott Summer's, or Cyclops. He and Logan never got along well. However, whenever things really mattered, the two were always there for the other. Next was Charles Xavier. He created the Institute for Gifted Youngsters, a school that trains mutants to control their powers. Some of them even became a group of superheroes called X-men, which Logan was a part of. He didn't know why he stayed, but he did, probably in Xavier's memory. The last grave was the one that was hardest to look at: Jean Grey's. She had nearly died, but came back as the Phoenix, only to be killed again. But not just by anyone, but by Logan. He had killed the woman he loved, despite the fact she loved Scott. He could still hear her scream when he slept, and whenever he woke up, he felt like crying. He had tried to forget her many times, but found it impossible. He was haunted by a dead figure who didn't want to leave him alone. Logan never told anyone that he was still angry at himself for killing her. He just needed to mend alone. Logan sighed and left his room. He went down the hall to see Rogue sitting on a bed with Kitty. The two looked up and smiled at him. "Hey, Logan." Rogue said. Ever since she had taken the cure, she had remained at the Institute, having nowhere else to go. Kitty had befriended her and now the two stayed close to each other whenever they could. "What are you two doing?" "Talking. What are you doing?" "Nothing." was his simple answer. "Are you okay? You don't look so well." Kitty said. Logan didn't look well, and yet he didn't care. He had bags under his eyes, and his hair was messed up. He looked like he hadn't showered in days. "Fine." he replied. With that, he left the two girls. He was finally cracking. He was sick of the fact that he looked like the only person who cared that Jean was dead. Everyone else seemed to move on with ease. He went right to his room and grabbed a duffel bag. need to get out of here. he thought. He was halfway through packing when a woman with snow white hair came into his room. "Where are you going?" she asked. Logan sighed. Storm was the hardest to talk to. She looked at him with a hard face, her arms neatly folded across her chest. "Away from here." he said. "Care to be more specific?" Storm said. She knew Logan was still choked up after Jean's death. She missed her too, but she knew that there was nothing she could say or do to change the truth. Jean was dead, and Logan wasn't going to stay due to his guilt. "Look, I can't make you stay. But try to remember, we're always here." she said. Logan grabbed his bag and slung in over his shoulder. "Thanks, Storm." he whispered. With that, he left her alone and stepped out into the world. It had rained the previous night, so the ground was still wet. Logan could've sworn that a mist surrounded him. He looked up to see that rain clouds were closing in on him. He sighed and wheeled out his motorcycle. It used to be Scott's, but seeing as he was no longer around to stop him from using it, Logan called it his own. He sat down and felt the engine roar from under him. He had been riding for an hour when the rain began to come down. "Great." he said to himself. His problems worsened when the downpour increased. It felt like he was in a shower instead of rain. He could't see any further then two feet ahead of him, but he was lucky to see to men holding something. Or someone. Logan squinted and saw the figure of a woman. As far as he cold tell, what the two men were doing to her was not good. "Hey! What are you doing to her?" he shouted at the two men. The bums looked up at him. It had been obvious they had been drinking. "She's a mutant! No mutant needs to be 'round, wrecking our cities!" said one, holding up a knife. With a quick motion, he cut the woman across her torso. She let out a shrill scream in pain. "Now, bub, I want you to let her go." Logan said menacingly. "Hey boys." the girl said weakly. "You know should be carrying umbrella's." she said. Logan sensed she was hatching a plan. "Why?" the other goon said. His reply was a sharp kick to the jaw. The girl leaped to her feet. She brought hand hands out and faced the two men. In an instant, rainwater came in a massive wave, causing to two men to be knocked to their feet. With another wave, they two were swept away. "That's why." she said. She turned to walk away, one hand over her stomach. However, she heard the sound of something flying through the air behind her. She instantly ducked, missing the knife by a hair on her head. Instead, it had lodged itself in Logan's shoulder! He ripped out the knife and watched the cut heal. "You're one, too." the girl whispered. She then let out a hiss in pain and went to her knees. Logan got off his bike and ran to her side. He gently removed her arm from her torso, giving him a view of the cut. His eyes went wide when he saw the massive wound stretch across her stomach. The next thing he knew the girl passed out and landed right in front of him. What am I going to do? I can't just leave her here! he thought. Half of him wanted to leave her, get back on his bike and ride off. The other half was saying she needed medical attention, and there was only one place to go for that. Kitty and Rogue were still talking when someone rapped at the door. At first they ignored it, then it came again. The two rolled their eyes and opened the door. They gasped when they saw a soaked Logan carrying a woman on his back. "I need your help." he said. "I still can't believe you did this, Logan!" Kitty said as he set the woman down on a bench. The three had somehow managed to sneak her to the med-lab without anyone seeing. "I couldn't just leave her here!" Logan snapped. "She was going to get killed!" "Well what do you want us to do?" Rogue said, throwing her hands up in the air. She watched as Logan threw a blanket over the woman. "Get her well, and send her on her way again when she wakes up." Logan said. I did my civic duty for the day. Unless something goes wrong, this is no longer my problem. he thought. Miles away from the mansion, a woman snickered. She loved her ability to see things far off. At this point in time, she was watching Logan pick up the woman on the street and set her on his bike behind her. "I should have known..." she whispered. (So what do you think? I need some inspiration, and reviews would be quite handy.)
