NOT AN ANIMAL
(disclaimer on page one) Chapter two: Adrianna It had been a day, and no one discovered the girl laying on a bench in the med lab. Kitty and Rogue had bandaged her up nicely, and said the it wouldn't take long for her to heal. Logan checked in every now and then, but only to see two exhausted girls asleep. On a day like this, he felt an odd feeling inside of him to go see the girl. He didn't know why it was there, but he followed the instinct and made his way to her bench. He saw a row of six glasses filled with water beside the bench. He didn't want to know why, but he had a feeling that they would come in handy later. His eyes then looked on the unconscious form on the bench. He took a long moment to examine her features. She looked to be around twenty-six, give or take a year. Long, raven hair fell around her face. Her skin was almost the color of paper, it was so pale. Her lips were also a pale, faded pink. Dark, thick eyelashes gave her the appearance as though she was sleeping. She had slender arms that were by her face. It took Logan a minute to realize that he had moved so close to her that she was barely a foot away from him. Something inside him seemed drawn to this woman, but he instantly pushed that feeling aside. He jumped back when he realized her eyes were open. He couldn't tell if they were ocean blue, sea green, or perhaps a combination of the two. He couldn't think long, for at that moment the woman tackled him and ran off. Logan muttered a curse under his breath and ran after her. He saw her white figure run down one hallway and followed. He had no idea where she was going, all that he did know was that she was slowing down gradually. He watched as she fell to her knees panting. She hadn't even run that far! He ran to her side, unsure of what to do. "Are you alright?" he asked. His response was a series of feeble hits to him, which he blocked. He asked her again in a less polite tone. "Do I look alright to you? I've been kidnapped, beaten, and I feel dehydrated." her voice was soft, as though she was whispering. "Need water?" Logan asked. He knew those glasses would come in handy after all. The woman nodded lightly. She go up, but wobbled, as though her knees would give out on her. He took her arm in his and walked her back to the lab. Sure enough, as on as she saw the water, she ran to it. Soon one glass was empty, and then another. It seemed to have been less than two minutes before the whole row was empty. The girl then sat back upon her bench, moving her hair out of her eyes. Logan finally saw that her eyes were actually a blue-green color. To him, they looked like a miniature ocean. "It's impolite to stare." the girl's voice said. Logan snapped out of his daydream to see that he was staring at her. "Sorry. " he said in a gruff tone. "Where am I, anyway?" the woman asked, her voice beginning to increase in volume as her strength slowly returned. "At a school." Logan answered simply. The woman looked around and smirked. "You're joking, right?' "No. It's for people like me." "And you are?" the woman folded her arms across her chest. Her response was the snikt of Logan showing his claws. The woman gasped. 'You're like me!" she shouted with joy. "You have claws?' Logan said jokingly. His response was a splash of water on his face. He opened his eyes and saw the woman with her hand up. He watched as the water fell to the floor, only to float to her hand. "Impressive." Logan said. The woman smirked. "I never got your name." Logan realized. "I never gave it." "Would you mind?" The girl raised her eyebrows. There was something about this man. "Adrianna." she said. "And yours?" "Logan." he said. Her name kept repeating in his head. He liked the way it sounded, it suited her. Adrianna was in her own thought, thinking about Logan's name. She enjoyed the sound of his also. The door opened to reveal Rogue and Kitty, who stopped short when they saw Adrianna. "You do get up fast." Kitty commented. Adrianna turned to them. She raised her hand up, only to have Logan grab it. "Hey, they're with me." he said. Adrianna lowered her hand and apologized. After introductions, Logan showed her to a room that was to be hers for the time being. "You're allowed to stay as long as you want, or leave whenever you want to." Logan said. "Thank you." Adrianna said. She looked out the window in her room. Like Logan's window, her's got a good view of the cemetery. "Who are they?" she asked. Logan took a deep breath. "There's Professor Xavier, Scott Summers, and Je-" he stopped short, caught in mid thought. Images of Jean dying flashed through his mind. He turned away from Adrianna and left the room. (It's a short one. Oh, well. Please review!)
